Loren Duane Prest, 89, of Sparta, went to be with our Lord, on March 9, 2025, in Washington County, IL. Loren was born on November 6, 1935, to Everett and Nettie (nee Stevenson) in Lively Grove Township. He married Betty Jo Cole on August 15, 1956. Betty Jo preceded him in death on July 17, 1984. He then married Darlene Shuler on August 10, 1991. She preceded him in death on December 11, 2013.
Loren graduated from University of Illinois with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was hired at Spartan Printing in 1958 as Plant Engineer. He retired at the age of 53. He worked briefly as a substitute teacher. Loren worked for the City of Sparta as City Coordinator and later was elected Commissioner of Finance. He then became a tax preparer for Falkenhein Accounting.
Loren was very active in the Tilden Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and filled many other key roles in the church. He was a commissioner in the Presbytery to the Synod of Lincoln Trails, active in The Gideons, and
