Carl Oliver "C.O." Bannister, 83, of Sparta, IL; born on September 19, 1941 in Sparta, IL, the son of Ralph Earl and Lola (née, Slavens) Bannister; passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL.
C.O. was a devoted Christian who always put God first. He and his wife, Donna, attended Westminster Church in Sparta where they belonged as life members. C.O. enjoyed farming and working outside. He owned a trucking/excavating company and retired from the Local 520 Operators Union. C.O. frequently attended antique tractor shows and was also very active in his community. He liked to watch his town grow and could always be counted on to help others. C.O. had a big heart and loved his family with all of it.
C.O. is survived by his loving wife – Donna (née, Hampton) Bannister to whom he married on May 29, 1965 in Steeleville, IL; three daughters – Tara Byington of Sparta, IL, Carla (husband, Kevin) Long of Evansville, IL, and Tricia (husband, Kevin) Funston
