RUTH B. SURMAN, 92, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 5:06 pm, Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Independence Care Center, Perryville, Missouri.
She was born to the late Gerhardt and Alma (nee Porter) Wohlwend on March 22, 1932 in Vergennes, Illinois.
Ruth married Bernard Surman on August 27, 1949 in Paragould, Arkansas; he preceded her in death on July 8, 1986.
She had worked at Kipp's Restaurant for several years and retired as a cook from Chester Mental Health Center.
Ruth was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester. She was also a member of the Blessed Virgin Sodality and the American Legion Post #487 Auxiliary in Chester. Ruth enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking.
