BROOKS
Morris Wayne Brooks, 78, of Sparta, IL; born on February 21, 1946 in Slaughters, KY, the son of Robert and Loretta (Helman) Brooks; passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at home.
Morris was an electrician at Peabody Coal Company for about fifteen years. He then went on to start his own trucking company called, 'Morris Brooks Trucking' which he had for twenty years. Morris enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with his family, especially at Kentucky Lake. Some people knew Morris by the name 'Gator', which was given to him after a trip to Florida many years ago. He loved jugging and running trot lines to catch catfish. Morris also liked watching NASCAR, drag races and hot rods.
Morris is survived by his loving wife of 51 years – Loretta (Pendergraff) Brooks of Sparta, IL to whom he married on January 17, 1973 in Elizabethtown, IL; two sons – Christopher Brooks of O'Fallon, IL and Jamie (Melissa) Brooks of Sparta, IL; five grandchildren – Christopher Brooks, Connor Brooks, Lucas Brook
